SACCUSA members and friends of South Africa gathered at the Buckhead Club on 30 October for a successful business breakfast with Kevin Chaplin, Managing Director of the SA Ubuntu Foundation and Amy Foundation, and Professor Nate Bennett of Georgia State University.
The gathering connected Kevin with Atlanta’s South African business community and explored how members living in the United States can support meaningful opportunities for people in South Africa.
Kevin shared the foundations’ work in bringing people together, developing young people’s potential and creating pathways towards employment and entrepreneurship. The SA Ubuntu Foundation fosters relationships across communities and business networks, while the Amy Foundation supports young people through educational and skills-development programmes.
For SACCUSA members in the USA, distance need not be a barrier to making a difference. Members are encouraged to connect with Kevin to explore support through donations, sponsorship, professional expertise, business introductions and connections to potential corporate supporters. Those visiting South Africa can also enquire about opportunities to learn more about the foundations’ work firsthand.
The breakfast was an introduction to the work and its possibilities—not a fundraising appeal. It provided the foundation for members to consider how their networks, experience and resources could contribute to sustainable community development.
This reflects SACCUSA’s commitment to building lasting people-to-people business networks. By connecting members in the United States with credible community initiatives in South Africa, the Chamber helps turn shared interests into practical collaboration and strengthens the relationships that underpin trade, investment and tourism between our countries.
SACCUSA thanks Kevin, Professor Bennett and everyone who participated. We encourage members across the USA—not only those who attended—to learn more and consider how they might contribute.
