SACCUSA is proud to announce that the Honourable Dr. Leon Schreiber, Minister of the Department of Home Affairs (DHA), has officially opened the DHA Service Centre in New York City by VFS Global — a major step forward in the DHA’s modernization program to improve services for the South African Diaspora abroad.

SACCUSA President Mr. Neil Diamond joined Minister Schreiber in New York for this historic opening, marking a significant milestone in expanding access to essential DHA services across the USA.

SACCUSA has actively engaged the minister on DHA services in the US and the ooening of the New York DHA service centre is a major accomplishment. Next to open will be the Washington, D.C. DHA centre, with additional VFS Global offices set to launch DHA centers in early 2026 in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, and Houston.
This rollout will make it easier and more efficient to apply for your South African passport in the United States, with processing times of 8–12 weeks and home delivery options available.

This initiative represents a transformational improvement for South Africans abroad, bringing vital government services closer to the diaspora community.
