The South African Chamber of Commerce in the USA (SACCUSA) are urging South African sports fans planning to attend the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the United States to apply early for U.S. visitor visas and avoid missing the tournament due to processing delays.
Atlanta will host multiple group-stage matches including the South Africa Bafana Bafana Match on 18 June 2026 and a semi-final in July, making Atlanta one of the FIFA tournament’s key U.S. venues.
South Africa is not part of the U.S. Visa Waiver Program and most South African passport holders require a U.S. visitor visa to travel for tourism and business purposes. SACCUSA cautions that while visa appointment wait times may currently appear manageable, demand is expected to rise sharply as the tournament approaches.
“We want to prevent disappointment,” said Neil Diamond, President of SACCUSA. “Supporters should not assume they will get a visa at short notice. Apply early and secure your visa before booking non-refundable flights or accommodation.”
SACCUSA has engaged with the City of Atlanta, local organizers, and representatives of the South African Embassy to prepare for an influx of South African sports fans to support Bafana Bafana.
The Chamber emphasized a simple message: No valid visa, no entry. “Fans must understand that tickets alone do not guarantee entry into the United States,” said Neil Diamond, President of SACCUSA. “If you wait too long to apply, you may not secure a U.S. Visa in time.”
South Africans intending to attend World Cup matches in the United States are advised to begin the visa process immediately and monitor official U.S. visa guidance. SACCUSA says it looks forward to welcoming South African fans to Atlanta and the United States for what promises to be the largest sporting event in 2026.
